Planting

Stripe Gardens are experienced at small and large scale planting including bulbs, herbaceous borders, mixed borders, shrubs, hedging and trees.

Due to continuing landscape contracts with private home owners and housing developers, we have built excellent relationships with plant growers enabling us to gain quality plants at preferential rates, this we are able to pass on to clients who use our services for planting.

Stripe gardens are happy to provide advice to potential clients on plants to suit particular locations that fit in with the clients garden style. We will take into account soil, light, drainage and intended scheme of planting as a start point of recommending a shortlist of possible plants.

Whether you want to start small and watch your plants grow as part of the garden, or install an instant border for impact or necessary screening we can provide the plants to suit.

Planting Aftercare

It is important to bear in mind many plants will require special care during their first growing season at least.

When planting, it is important to encourage a healthy root system to develop quickly to enable the plant to support itself during the warm summer months. This can be achieved in many ways but a couple of the most cost effective methods we often use are explained below.

Adding a 50mm mulch of high grade compost around the plants stops rainwater evaporating. As a bonus it also improves soil structure and adds nutrients into the root zone as rain takes the water soluble nutrients down into the soil.

Stripe Gardens also have irrigation hire packages to suit most applications. Even when water pressure is low and not capable of running an irrigation system, we can supply systems that use tanks filled through the daytime on low pressure and are pumped at higher pressure during the early hours by our commercial water pumps.
